Teacher emily

Hi, I’m Emily and I am so excited to be a part of 10 Acre Wood.  My family and I moved back to Minnesota in 2019 after living in Massachusetts for 11 years.  I have a degree in Elementary Education from Gustavus Adolphus and following graduation I served a year with AmeriCorps, which is what brought me out to the East Coast.  After my year of service I discovered a really incredible childcare center where I began as a summer intern.  That internship led to a teaching position where I stayed for the next 10 years.  When the opportunity presented itself to move back to the Midwest, we immediately took it so we could be closer to family and old friends.  My husband, Jamie, and I have three kids, Arie and Evelyn and Lia.  We spend much of our time strolling the neighborhood and exploring local trails, gardening, and working on our “fixer upper”.  Both older kids have become quite handy with their tool set (and a paint brush).

When I heard about 10 Acre Wood, I immediately knew this was something I wanted to be a part of.  I believe children have an innate curiosity to explore and discover, and learn best through self-directed play and uninterrupted time in nature.  I could not be more excited to be a part of this community and look forward to getting to know you all.
